About

brenda barger has been working in landscape design & CONSTRUCTION for over 25 years.

Having grown up on a farm in central Oklahoma, Brenda developed an early interest in native plants and landscape restoration while learning much from her father’s agricultural and conservation practices. Summer jobs in the retail nursery industry provided more in-depth knowledge of horticultural practices and experience cultivating ornamental plants.

Although initially drawn to the fine arts and art history, Brenda later discovered the professional field of landscape architecture and returned to school in 1988 to complete an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture at Louisiana State University. She then went on to receive a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 1993. After teaching in the Landscape Architecture Department at Auburn University, Brenda moved to Austin in 1995 and started her residential landscape design practice. Within a few years the business grew into a full-fledged landscape design/build company specializing in site-sensitive design and construction with an emphasis on the natural and architectural character of the project.

With her background in fine arts and art history, along with later graduate studies in historic preservation and the cultural landscape, Brenda is uniquely able to integrate all aspects of the natural and built environment into a harmonious design that will be both appropriate and enduring.
